The first remix of Lakou Mizik & Joseph Ray's ‘Leave the Bones’ album comes from respected Dutch producers 16BL. Having accrued support from the likes of Pete Tong, RÜFÜS DU SOL, Tycho, Kolsch, Adam Port, and John Digweed, 16BL have cemented themselves as one of melodic and deep house’s forefront producer duos. In their reimagining of lead single ‘Ogou (Pran Ka Mwen)’, 16BL apply their analogue production techniques to create a warm enveloping chord progression and a fervent rhythm, and emphasise the original’s chanting vocals.
‘Ogou (Pran Ka Mwen)’ is an impassioned plea to the Vodou spirit of Iron and War for protection from the brutality of life’s daily battles. It is the first single lifted from ‘Leave the Bones’, a six-year collaboration between Haitian band Lakou Mizik and GRAMMY-winning producer Joseph Ray, out August 6.
