British-Indian composer, producer, and pianist Cephas Azariah returns with ‘coherence’, the second single lifted from his highly anticipated sophomore album, ‘conditions for observing light’, (out 3 September).
Following his breakout 2024 debut LP ‘Joy Paradox’, which earned heavy ambient and neoclassical acclaim from BBC 6 Music, KEXP, Wonderland, CLASH, and tastemaker Ólafur Arnalds, Azariah’s new material takes a deeply philosophical approach, exploring how we find radiance in an increasingly dark world.
‘coherence’ features an exciting collaboration with London-based electronic duo josh & sam who are twins. After a chance meeting in a coffee shop, the trio bonded over their shared musical roots, previously collaborating on Cephas’ debut album and subsequent remix EP. The track beautifully showcases their hybrid sound, blending Josh’s fascination with synthesisers, Sam’s cinematic film scoring, and Cephas' signature evocative piano work.
“Inspired by the light coherence phenomenon—where light waves combine to create interference patterns—this song brings to life a convergence of elements: a brighter world and a coming together of things in the light.” - Cephas Azariah
