A Better Place EP

Cornelius SA joins the Anjunachill roster with his latest downtempo EP ‘A Better Place’.

South African producer Cornelius SA is known for his emotive fusion of deep house, melodic techno, and Afro rhythms. Since breaking through in 2015 with ‘Falling Again’ and the Ambition EP, he’s released on labels including Armada, Get Physical, Mau5trap, and Sony Music Africa, earning support from Above & Beyond, Eelke Kleijn, and Chicane. His 2018 Get Physical release received three Dance Music Awards SA nominations, while ‘Diamonds’ landed on BBC Radio 1 and Music Week’s Cool Cuts chart. He has also been named one of 1001 Tracklists’ Top 100 Producers.

Cornelius SA joined the Anjuna family with ‘Silhouette’, his collaboration with Sebee which was released on 2021’s ‘Anjunadeep Explorations 18’, followed by ‘Soaring’ on Anjunadeep 13, which later formed part of his ‘Solitude EP’.

His new EP ‘A Better Place’ offers a meditative and deeply personal exploration into ambient and neo-classical territory. Featuring collaborations with Andrew Long and Ra5im, as well as two solo compositions, the project blends gentle piano, atmospheric electronics, and nature-inspired textures to form an immersive sonic landscape.

“After my show at Savaya, Bali with the Anjunadeep crew, I stayed a few more days alone, which gave me time to reflect - on where I come from, and how far I’ve come. I grew up in Soshanguve, south of Pretoria, a place where dreams are often laughed at. Being the firstborn in a Black family meant carrying heavy expectations - music wasn’t seen as a real path. I lost touch with friends, family, church mates. In the end, it was just me and the music. When I got back from Bali, I knew I had to create something ‘out of the ordinary’ that expressed everything I rarely say. ’A Better Place’ is that - a space where I feel free, safe, understood.”
