Sweet Mistake (Mark Novas Revisit)

Lithuanian DJ and producer Mark Novas reimagines his standout 2023 Anjunadeep release Sweet Mistake with a neoclassical twist, now released via Anjunachill.

Classically trained from a young age, Mark was raised in a musical household and later earned a master’s degree in audio engineering. His technical background led him to recording and mixing for a range of artists, including British pop act Ace Clvrk. Before launching his solo project, he spent over a decade performing and releasing music in various bands under different aliases, touring internationally and honing his sound. His pivot to melodic house in 2022 marked the beginning of a new chapter.

Mark's debut release under the Novas moniker, Sweet Mistake, was originally featured on Anjunadeep 14 - a flagship compilation curated by label co-founder James Grant and Bristol-based DJ Jody Wisternoff. The compilation is renowned for spotlighting rising stars in electronic music, and Mark’s track stood out as one of its highlights.

Positioned as track two on the compilation, Sweet Mistake has since amassed over 730,000 streams and 1.4 million views on YouTube. A solo release on Anjunadeep followed in 2023, with Mark’s haunting vocal work drawing support from DJs such as Hardwell, Joris Voorn, and Marsh.

For this rework, Mark taps into his classical roots, drawing inspiration from composers like Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds, and Hania Rani. The result is a textured, slow-evolving reinterpretation that leans into a more hopeful chord progression. While embracing a sense of serenity and optimism, it retains the emotional depth and melancholic undertones of the original.
