Catching Flies debuts on Anjunadeep’s sister label Reflections with the stunning [Strings] EP, featuring five string reprises of some of his most popular tracks. The second single, 'Opals', is out now.
Catching Flies, aka multi-instrumentalist, producer, and DJ George King, is a modern musician who seamlessly blends mainstream and underground sounds. Catching Flies’ sound, whilst referencing touch points such as hip-hop, house, soul and jazz, always has a rooting in Electronica, ambient and chillout music. He has released on labels like Anjunadeep, Ninja Tune, and Cercle. Following his 2019 debut album 'Silver Linings,' praised for its eclectic and emotive sound, he released an array of acclaimed singles and EPs, culminating in his latest 2023 album 'True Colours'. His work includes an ambient reprise of his biggest track ‘Satisfied’ which has gained well over 30 million streams.
Catching Flies has earned accolades from tastemakers and artists such as Lauren Laverne, Gilles Peterson, Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Nils Frahm and more. His innovative electronic sound has also captured the attention of top-tier publications, including The Guardian, Mixmag, CLASH, iD, and Dazed & Confused. His acclaimed live performance video of 'Orsay' in collaboration with Cercle, was shot in the Orsay Museum in Paris in 2022, showcasing his captivating live presence. He has also been remixed by some of the leading likes of chillout/neo-classical music including Grandbrothers and Rival Consoles.
The [Strings] EP features five reworks of Catching Flies’ most popular tracks: ‘Satisfied’, ‘Opals’, ‘Diamonds’, ‘Ghosts’, and ‘Sunrays’. Enhancing their original sound, these new reprises are enriched with new, shimmering strings; adding an uplifting and ethereal quality to the tracks. 'Opals' was originally released in 2019 as part of his 'Silver Linings' album and remains one of his most popular tracks.
